Creepers are a common mob in the world of Minecraft.

Spawning[]

Item[]

If natural spawning is disabled, Creepers can only be spawned by players using their fused item, which can be crafted with an Egg and one Gunpowder. It takes a total of 30 seconds for the fusion part to be fused, at the cost of 25 mana. After which, you'll have your spawn item to spawn a Creeper. When spawned in, it will be wearing the cape that the player has (if they have a cape equipped), and it has a chance of spawning as a baby.

Natural[]

If natural spawning is enabled, wild Creepers will spawn anywhere in the Overworld on a solid block with a light level of zero except on Mushroom Islands.

Behavior[]

Creepers attack by running into opponents, and when at low health, they will explode, which does recoil damage and can possibly kill themselves. Creepers can be good out in the field due to the power of their explosions, however if they're used near a base, one might not want to use them, as they can cause damage to the ground unless the gamerule "MobGriefing" is set to false. If an Engender Creeper is struck by Lightning or the player uses a Flint and Steel on them, they will turn into a Charged Creeper, which attacks enemies by striking them with lightning and has an even more powerful explosion, and with the explosions dealing 20 hearts of damage, they're one of the best Tier 3 units.

If an Engender Creeper explodes while it has a potion effect active, there will be a Lingering Potion effect left behind in the crater of the explosion. Using a Flint and Steel on an Engender Charged Creeper will not force it to explode. The Lightning that the Charged Creeper attacks with is treated as Vanilla Lighting, so it can be used to convert Engender Pigs and Villagers into Engender Zombie Pigman and Witches respectively. Engender Creepers and Charged Creepers are one of the many mobs that have a female model. If an Engender Creeper or Charged Creeper is made into a Hero Creeper/Hero Charged Creeper via use of The Star of Valor, it will not gain any new abilities, however, their explosions will be much more massive.
