Spider Jockeys are a rare mount mob in the world of Minecraft.

Spawning[]

Item[]

If natural spawning is disabled, Spider Jockeys can only be spawned by players using their fused item, which can be crafted with Skeleton Fusion Part and a Spider Fusion Part. It takes a total of 30 seconds for the fusion part to be fused, at the cost of 32 mana. After which, you'll have your spawn item to spawn a Spider Jockey. Both mobs a chance of spawning as a baby and the Spider has a 1/5 chance of spawning with its Survival Test skin. The Skeleton will always spawn with a Leather Cap for protection as well as the cape that the player has (if they have a cape equipped), and it has a chance to give the Skeleton various additional items, including Wooden/Stone Swords, Armor, Shields, and Tipped Arrows of Poison or Weakness. If the item is used in Snowy Plains, Ice Spikes, or Frozen Ocean biome, it has a chance of spawning a Stray instead, and if used in the Nether, it has a chance of being replaced by a Wither Skeleton.

Natural[]

If natural spawning is enabled, any wild Spider that spawns will have a 1% chance of spawning as a Spider Jockey. and if the Spider Jockey spawns in a cold biome such as an Ice Plains, Frozen Ocean, or Ice Spikes, the Skeleton of the Jockey has an 80% chance of turning into a Stray. Since Spiders do not spawn in the Nether, there is no way to get a natural Wither Skeleton Spider Jockey.

Behavior[]

The mobs act the same as their normal Engender counterparts, the Spider will rush towards enemies while the Skeleton shoots them with Arrows. Since Spiders are a bit lackluster on their own, using this mount is recommended to bring more utility to the Spider.

Right clicking the Spider Jockey will cause the Spider and Skeleton to split, and sneak right clicking while a Spider and Skeleton are next to one another will cause the Skeleton to mount the Spider once more. The player is able to mount the Spider, which will allow them to run across the land and climb up walls, while using the jump key will cause the Spider to leap forward. Engender Spiders are one of the many mobs that have a female model.

Skeletons are undead mobs, meaning they take damage from Healing potions and heal from Harming potions, and are unaffected by Poison or Regeneration, and they also burn in the sunlight unless wearing a helmet. Similar to their Vanilla counterparts, Engender Skeletons have a 11% chance to spawn holding the Bow in their left hand. If an Engender Skeleton kills a Creeper, it will drop a random Music Disc. Engender Skeletons are one of the many mobs that have a female model. If an Engender Skeleton is made into a Hero Skeleton via use of The Star of Valor, it will gain a new ability where the Skeleton will occasionally rapid fire a stream of Arrows that is capable of dealing massive damage and can one shot mobs like the Elder Guardian with a single stream of Arrows.
